Heeeyyyoooooo D3!!
For this week's #D3DidYouKnow, we're going to take a look at the tradition of "Harana." What's harana, you might ask? Harana is the art of serenading that special someone in your life! Traditionally, harana is practiced in rural towns and villages of the Philippines. Some well-known harana songs are "O Ilaw," "Walay Angay," "No Duaduaem Pay," and "Ay Kalisud;" although, you can use ANY song you want! Even though Valentine's Day has passed, why not show your love every time you get the chance? Here's a link on courtship in the Philippines:http://www.seasite.niu.edu/Tagalog/love.htm So guys. don't be a "duwag," grab your "tulay" and go after that "dalagang Pilipina!"

Hey D3,
So I know you already knew that Pope Francis visited the Philippines in late January. It was certainly such a great honor for the Philippines to host his Holiness during such times. But this #D3DidYouKnow comes from a CNN report that raises the question of the homeless families were temporarily moved away from Roxas Boulevard to a beach resort about 50 miles away from the Papal visit. When questioned about the exodus, the Philippines Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) responded by saying that it was to ensure the safety of Roxas Boulevard for both Pope Francis and the homeless families. Meeting and speaking with the poor families was one of the primary issues that Pope Francis wanted to address when visiting the Philippines.
